Woodcut on Fabriano Art Paper 60cm x 80 cm
In this artwork the artist, Hermanus, Lwandile depicted the portrait of the former South African Minister of Higher Education Blade Nzimande addressing the fee increment. The Minister of Higher Education said that in 2016 there would be a fee increase of about 8% for the academic year 2017 in a meeting they had in Luthuli House. Things got worse just after the former Minister said the would a fee increment of about 8%.
The artwork enquires into the main objective of this research. Unlike his other artworks, this one does not have any buildings on it. The background is clear in this artwork. As the viewer pays more attention to the artwork, he/she can see a microphone symbolising that the former minister was addressing someone.
The artist that has influenced Hermanus L. in the making of this artwork was Kabelo Kim Modise who specialises in portraits.
