Pockets of Beauty
Pockets of Beauty was founded in May 2017 after Marli and her husband Wessel, together with their children moved to the Eastern cape from Cape Town to become full time missionaries. She has always found sewing and crafting to bring her joy, and Pockets of Beauty is an overflow of what she naturally enjoys doing.
Marli says “I make a range of products that are useful and beautiful. These products are handmade from Three Cats Original Shweshwe fabric, in honour of the beloved Transkei where our family serves as missionaries. All proceeds go towards our missionary fund and enables us to go further and reach more villages.
The name “Pockets of Beauty” carries a very special significance to us, as it came to us through encouragement from a friend during a very difficult time in our family life. We experienced a few miscarriages and we were reminded that even though the road we walk may be hard and dry, there will always be Pockets of Beauty along the way to encourage and refresh you. This is also my wish for our customers, that our products will be pockets of beauty that bring them happiness and joy. That the bright and beautiful colours will be a reminder that beauty exists, and that it can be found in the small and simple things."
New products are added to the range every now and then to keep things fresh and exciting, but they are all still made with 100% shweshwe and with tons of love and care.
